How to remove AB Genius from your Shopify store

If you need to uninstall AB Genius, the process takes less than a minute. Here's what to know before and during the uninstall.

Before you uninstall

There are a few things to be aware of:

Active experiments will stop immediately. If you have any running experiments, they will stop the moment the app is uninstalled. Visitors will no longer be assigned to test groups, and any price or content changes being delivered by AB Genius will revert to your original store settings.

Your Shopify prices are not affected. AB Genius does not modify your actual product prices in the Shopify admin. When you uninstall, your original prices remain exactly as they were. There is nothing to "undo."

Your billing subscription will be cancelled automatically. Uninstalling the app from Shopify cancels your AB Genius subscription. You don't need to cancel separately.

Experiment data is retained for a period after uninstall. If you reinstall AB Genius later, your previous experiment data may still be available. For specific data retention questions or if you want your data deleted, contact us at [e-mail].

How to uninstall

1. Go to your Shopify Admin.

2. Navigate to Settings → Apps and sales channels (or Apps in the sidebar).

3. Find AB Genius in your list of installed apps.

4. Click on AB Genius, then click Uninstall (or Delete).

5. Confirm the uninstall when prompted.

That's it. The app, its theme extension, and all associated scripts will be removed from your store.

What gets removed

When you uninstall AB Genius, the following are removed automatically:

• The AB Genius app from your Shopify admin

• The ab-live Theme App Extension block from your storefront

• The Cart Transform Function (used for price testing at checkout)

• The Web Pixel extension (used for event tracking)

• All active experiments stop running

• Your Pro subscription is cancelled (if applicable)

What stays

• Your Shopify product prices — these are never modified by AB Genius

• Your theme files — AB Genius uses a Theme App Extension, not custom code injection, so your theme is untouched

• Your store's page speed returns to exactly what it was before installation (though the impact was negligible to begin with)

Visitor cookies

AB Genius sets two cookies for visitors: ab_vid (visitor ID, 1 year expiry) and ab_data (assignment cache, 1 hour expiry).

After uninstalling, these cookies will expire naturally on their own. They contain no personal data and do not affect your store's functionality.

Reinstalling AB Genius

If you decide to come back, simply search for "AB Genius" in the Shopify App Store and install it again. You'll go through the brief onboarding wizard and can start creating new experiments right away.
